A long-awaited intentional housing community has officially broken ground in west Fort Collins.
Polestar Village broke ground Feb. 15, starting work on its detention pond and infrastructure for 18 single-family homes as part of its first development phase, Polestar Village president and builder Michael Gornik told the Coloradoan. The 20-acre development — carved out of the former former Happy Heart Farm property near South Overland Trail between West Elizabeth Street and Orchard Place — will ultimately have 144 planned housing units ranging from 450-square-foot “micro apartments” to traditional single-family homes, according to past Coloradoan reporting.
Once complete, the intentional nonprofit community will also include a community center with a commercial kitchen and dining hall, a wellness center for elder and child care, pickleball courts, a playground, a large community garden, smaller pocket gardens and a meditation temple, according to past Coloradoan reporting.
